The Lanka Sama Samaja Party today said that there was no need for the delaying of the Local Government polls any further and the government should hold the election without delay.

Speaking at a press briefing today, LSSP General Secretary Prof. Tissa Vitharana pointed out that the delimitation of the LG bodies have been done and gazetted. Therefore, the government can hold the election under the new electoral system, he added.

The government should replace the Proportional Representative System and introduce the new electoral system for this election, he also said.
