Former world cup winning Sri Lanka cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga lost in his bid for the Vice President position at Sri Lanka Cricket a short while ago.

Ranatunga managed to poll only 80 votes and could not get elected. Jayantha Dharmadasa and K Mathivanan were elected with 102 and 90 votes respectively.

Earlier, Ranatunga's younger brother Nishantha Ranatunga was soundly defeated by Thilanga Sumathipala for the post of SLC President.
