Minister of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando said that there would not be any disturbances in high speed internet in Sri Lanka.
He made this observation speaking to media on the recent reports regarding high speed broadband internet speed.
Fernando said that the report was spread following the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission decision to end contracts of several consultants of the National Broadband Initiative. "But that doesn't affect high speed internet services in the country," the Minister expalined.
Fernando also said that the TRC does not fall under his purview.
However, the matters regarding the internet speeds are being handled by his ministry, under the ICT, he added. Therefore, the public should not be apprehensive of the internet speeds, Fernando stressed.
