Colombo Magistrate Court today ordered several TV stations to submit the recordings of the press conference called by UNP MP Hirunika Premachandra over the abduction of a youth in Dematagoda, to the Colombo Crime Division.

The order was given after considering a motion filed by the CCD. The CCD informed the court that the Attorney General's Department had requested for the recordings.

The CCD recently sought the AG's advice on the possibility of arresting Premachandra over the incident.

A youth was abducted by some supporters of Premachandra, using a defender jeep belonging to her, on December 21. The youth later told police that Premachandra threatened him before he was released. Premachandra vehemently rejected the allegations at the press conference held on December 22.

Eight supporters of Premachandra are in custody over the incident.
