The Supreme Court today allowed five individuals, including K. Mathivanan, to contest at the Sri Lanka Cricket Elections on January 3.
Mathivanan had earlier challenged the decision by the Director General of Sports to reject his nomination for the post of SLC Vice Chairman. The petitioner had named several individuals including the DG of Sports and the Sports Minister as respondents in the petition.
The Supreme Court allowed Mathivanan and four others, whose nominations were also rejected, to contest for the election. The other individuals who were allowed to contest are Asanga Seneviratne, Nihal Lewke, Sujeewa Lokuhewa and Eastman Narangoda.
The Supreme Court gave the judgement at a special hearing by a bench headed by Chief Justice K. Sripavan.
