The Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Sect, Most Venerable Davuldena Gnanissara Thera marks his 100th birthday today.

A special event will be held to mark the birthday with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Gnanissara Thera was the Sangha Nayaka of the Udarata Amarapura Samagri Sangha Sabha from 1983 before becoming the Chief Prelate of the Amarapura Nikaya in 2004.
