UPFA MP Namal Rajapaksa, the elder son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said today that he will join his father if he decides to form a new party.
Speaking to media after leaving the Colombo Crimes Division, Rajapaksa said that his father has not yet decided to form a new party. He had arrived at the CCD to give a statement regarding an impersonator phone call.
Several UPFA MPs who are backing Mahinda Rajapaksa have said that a new political front will definitely be formed.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa recently said that he will not betray the SLFP. However, if people are thrown out of their parties, they will have no option but to form different ones, he also warned.
