Western Provincial Council member Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe who lost his ministerial portfolio yesterday is to address a special press conference this evening to explain his position on the matter.
Informed sources from the council told Asian Mirror that Warnasinghe's options are limited as the decision has come from the Governor of the province.
"Warnasinghe or his party can make a political decision and bargain for the ministry with the President. But, there is no legal basis upon which he can take further action," the source explained.
However, Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya who took over Warnasinghe's ministry has already have that the Council will take a special vote on the expenditure head of its Health Ministry before December 31.
The development took place nearly 24 hours after Warnasinghe challenged the Western Province Chief Minister Isura Devapriya to take over his ministry.
"Had he talked to me properly about the matter, the outcome would have been different. Instead of going through proper channels, he went before media and criticised me," Devapriya told reporters after taking over the ministry.
