The islandwide token strike staged by the employees of National Water Supply and Drainage Board Joint Trade Union Alliance ended today.

The decision to end the strike was taken authorities promised to pay the full bonus, Convener of National Water Supply and Drainage Board Joint Trade Union Alliance Upali Ratnayake said in a statement.

The token strike was launched on December 26th, as water board employees had not received a satisfactory response from the authorities regarding the slashing of their bonus.

Authorities had promised the trade union to pay the bonus of Rs. 37000, Upali Ratnayake stated his statement today.
