Forty five people from nine Sri Lankan families have left for Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist organization, a report said citing 'intelligence sources'.
The vernacular newspaper 'Divaina' said that intelligence services have made the government aware of this development.
Furthermore, two countries have warned of the increased ISIS activity in Sri Lanka, the report said.
Meanwhile, according to the report, the President has been made aware of the rising number of ISIS sympathizers in the country.
The ISIS earlier said that 16 Sri Lankans joined the organization along with the 'first ISIS fighter from Sri Lanka', who was known to the organization as Abu Shurayh As - Silani.
