The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna yesterday urged the government to reduce the prices of fuel to transfer the benefits of the reduction of world crude oil prices to the public immediately.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath said that a litre of petrol can be sold at Rs 59.39 according to the current world market prices.
Furthermore, Herath queried as to why the petroleum pricing formula was being delayed.
The 'good governance' government had promised a pricing formula for petroleum from early this year, but are yet to introduce such a mechanism.
