The Government Medical Officers' Association today warned the government that it will launch a general strike in the first week of January if the government is unable to address their grievances by that time.

The GMOA points out the issues related to the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM), the Indo-Lanka trade agreement and budget proposals pertaining to state sector as their main grievances.

It had earlier demanded the government to nationalize the SAITM, among other demands.
