The Government Medical Officers' Association Central Committee gathered for a crucial meeting today, hours before the GMOA was to hold discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena.
The GMOA CC will discuss several issues such as the nationalization of Malabe SAITM, budget proposals harmful for the public servants and the people and its policy regarding the forthcoming agreement with India.
The GMOA has been in the receiving end of severe criticism from the government for its demands to nationalize SAITM and its position on the agreement with India. The GMOA holds that the government will sign nothing but the proposed CEPA with India. The government vehemently denies the charge and maintains that a different agreement is on the cards.
