TGI Friday's Mistletoe Drone CUTS OFF Part Of Woman's Nose

December 09, 2014

Do remote-controlled helicopters carrying mistletoe sound romantic to you? Well, they are even less so when they fly in your face and cut off part of your nose, as photographer Georgine Benvenuto found, when one of the helicopter blades hit her in the face.

The mistletoe drones were introduced to TGI Friday's restaurants last month as a way to encourage romantic moments.  However, instead of inspiring a few kisses, in this incidence the drone apparently flew out of control and injured a customer.

Brooklyn Daily reports that the flying device hit Benvenuto, a photographer for the paper, in the face and cut off part of her nose- and she  was forced to use napkins to staunch the blood.

Benvenuto said she was thankful it didn't blind her:

"Thank god it didn't go anywhere under my eye- that is my livelihood!"

This was not the direction the restaurant chain was hoping the blood to pump with the introduction of the drones. They were meant 'to help inspire more guests to come together under the mistletoe and experience #Togethermas this Christmas'.

Other diners weren't too worried about the injury, saying that it was just a 'flesh wound', and one couple even found it romantic, kissing under the mistletoe.

George Gonzeles, who has been coming to the chain twice a week for 16 years, kissed his wife under it and told Brooklyn Daily;

"If people get hurt, they're going to come regardless. There is a risk involved with anything flying."

We're not so sure we would want to take that risk. What do you think?
