Ku Klux Klan Plans Victory Parade For Donald Trump

November 11, 2016

One of the largest chapters of the Ku Klux Klan in the US has announced it will take to the streets to celebrate Donald Trump’s shock election victory.

The Loyal White Knights of Pelham, North Carolina, are planning a parade on December 3.

The KKK chapter announced the parade on its website, but did not list a time or location.

Mr Trump's campaign was famously endorsed by David Duke, one of America's formeost white supremacists and holocaust deniers.

Mr Duke, a former Imperial Wizard of the KKK, celebrated Mr Trump's victory on Wednesday Morning, tweeting: "Make no mistake about it, our people have played a HUGE role in electing Trump!"

The Ku Klux Klan, which had about 6 million members in the 1920s, now has some 2,000 to 3,000 members nationally in about 72 chapters, or klaverns, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that monitors extremist groups

Mr Trump took to Twitter overnight to condemn protests outside his Trump Tower headquarters on New York's Fifth Avenue, as well as in other cities throughout the United States.

One protest in Portland, Oregon became so violent it was officially branded a 'riot' by local police.

The President elect faced criticism for using his first tweet since his election victory to attack the principles of freedom of the press and freedom of assembly, both of which are enshrined in the US Constitution's first amendment.
