Almost immediately, his Twitter bio was edited, describing him as the Former PM.

Home Secretary Theresa May is on her way to the Buckingham Palace.

Earlier in the day Cameron addressed the media as PM for the last time outside No 10, Downing Street, before leaving the official residence.

A few hours before, he took part in the Prime Minister's Questions session in Parliament for the last time.
