Ranjana Senasinghe Receives Nikolai Ostrovsky Award

Ranjana Senasinghe received the Nikolai Ostrovsky Award for his outstanding work for translating 'Born of the Storm' Russian to Sinhala as 'Kunatuwen Upatha Laddo', in Moscow recently.

Nikolai Ostrovsky is one of the most celebrated Soviet socialist realist writer. His is best known for his novel 'How the Steel Was Tempered' which is considered one of the most influential works of Communist literature.

Ostrovsky's second and final novel 'Born of the Storm' was written during Joseph Stalin's era. After suffering from years long of illnesses Ostrovsky died before he could complete 'Born of the Storm'.
