The foundation stone laying ceremony for ‘Amaradewa Asapuwa’, the musical monastery to be constructed in memory of Pandit W.D. Amaradewa will be held on 28th August at 10.00 am at Apegama premises in Battaramulla. This will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Minister of Finance and Media Mangala Samraweera, Deputy Minister Lasantha Alagiyawana, Secretary to the Ministry R.H.S. Samaratunge, and Chairperson of Amaradewa Foundation Mrs. Wimala Amaradewa will also participate on this occasion. The event is organized by the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media.
Dr. Pandith W.D.Amaradeva Music Monastery would be constructed on a 120 perch land owned by the Urban Development Authority (UDA), at a cost of Rs. 250 million. Cabinet approval had already been granted for the project which will be fund by Treasury to be handed over to the public by 2019.
