Poland, a member of the European Union wants to enter the Sri Lankan Dairy sector, with possible joint venture partnerships, its New Delhi based Ambassador Tomasz Lukaszuk told during a meeting he held with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Tomasz Lukaszuk met with Mangala P. B. Yapa, the Secretary General and CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber on Tuesday, 28th October, 2014.
The ambassador said that Poland has a very strong dairy sector which can be utilized to help Sri Lanka develop its local dairy industry. Lukaszuk said steps can be taken to bring in Polish Diary Sector businesses to tie up with the local businesses to set up joint ventures etc.
The discussion also focused on areas such as Tea, Tourism, Rubber and other potential sectors, while both parties also discussed on organizing business missions to each other’s countries to explore, trade and investment opportunities.
Speaking during the occasion, Mangala P.B. Yapa, Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce said, “Poland business community should look at exploring opportunities offered by Sri Lanka, especially in the ports, shipping logistics related industries, in which Sri Lanka can play a pivotal role as a gateway to South Asia. Opportunities being made available in the Free Port of Hambantota, could be attractive to Polish Investors seeking opportunities to South Asia. ”
Consul General for Poland in Sri Lanka Deshmanya Ken Balendra, who is also the Former Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Lilakshini De Mel, Senior Assistant Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was also present during the occasion.
The meeting took place at the Chamber premises.
