Virtusa, a global provider of digital engineering and technology services, recently celebrated the first anniversary of its Reliability Engineering and Observability Guilds. These Guilds, established in 2023 as Communities of Practice (CoP) for like-minded professionals within the company, were launched with the vision of fostering a culture of collaboration in the fields of Reliability Engineering and Observability. With over 200 members and counting, the Guilds' achievements reflect the ongoing realization of this vision.

"The Guilds are a reflection of Virtusa’s dedication to continuous learning, technical research and development, and knowledge-sharing, which has in turn been instrumental in further advancing our capabilities," commented Misnad Haque, Senior Principal Architect, SRE and Observability at Virtusa. "Over the past year, the Guilds have organized numerous Tech Talks and partnered with our HR Division to host multiple events, encouraging collaboration among a broader audience. These initiatives have strengthened our ability to maintain robust systems, enhance operational resilience for our clients, and help our members build valuable networks within Virtusa."

Throughout the year, Virtusa's Reliability Engineering and Observability Guilds hosted 34 Tech Talks and an exclusive panel discussion on AWS re:Invent 2023, led by Virtusa’s own experts on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The Guilds also organized successful events such as the AIOps (Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations) Hackathon and the AWS PartyRock Bootcamp, both multi-venue virtual gatherings. Additionally, the Guilds engaged with undergraduate students from universities across Sri Lanka, conducting 10 CSR training sessions and a hackathon, building capacities, and promoting broader community engagement.

"With the pace and scale at which Virtusa has grown in recent years, Guilds like these are fundamental to nurturing a sense of community among teams otherwise confined to their project or geographical location," said Indika Wimalasuriya, Senior Systems Engineering Manager, SRE and Observability at Virtusa, who also serves as Coordinator for both Guilds. "Beyond learning and skill development, we have built a connected global community dedicated to collaboration and continuous professional development."
