Horizon Campus, the UGC-approved degree awarding institute, recently signed Memorandums of Agreement (MOA’s) with two prestigious universities in the Asia Pacific region, The Siam University (SU) and The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), based in Thailand, to offer engineering programs, specializing in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, providing unparalleled value for money and considered to be the best investment in engineering education in Sri Lanka.
The MOA signing ceremony took place at the Horizon Campus Knowledge City in Malabe, with the presence of various key officials including Mr. Upul Dharanagama, Chairman of Horizon Campus, Mr. Ajitha Wanasinghe, CEO of Horizon Campus, Theo Fernando Managing Director of Horizon Campus, Ayesh Fernando, Director of Horizon Campus, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, President of AIT, Sanjeev Jayasinghe, Executive Director of AIT and Prof: Nithin Kumar Thirpathy of AIT.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed by Horizon Campus, Siam University, and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has paved the way for Horizon Campus students to pursue some of the top engineering degrees available in Asia. This agreement provides an Integrated Bachelor's program in Engineering that enables students to eventually transfer seamlessly into a Master's degree program. Students will spend the first three years at Horizon Campus and the final year at Siam University and the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.
According to Ayesh Fernando, the Director of Horizon Campus, the institute has made a concerted effort to form partnerships with highly regarded institutions as part of their commitment to providing transformative learning experiences and empowering young people. He is confident that their students will derive significant advantages from the recently established MOA. “By co-creating international programs that foster a global mindset and a holistic student experience, which is central to our mission, “he said.
Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, President of AIT, also expressed his views on the partnership by highlighting AIT's contribution to academic and research for over 64 years. He affirmed that AIT has a well-recognized global reputation for serving the human resource development needs of the region through innovative postgraduate programs, as well as through professional education and training programs catering to governments, universities, corporate sectors, and individuals. In reference to the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed with Horizon Campus, Sri Lanka, he further stated that it is a testament to AIT's commitment to regional partnerships, extending its academic excellence, research, and outreach programs to prepare graduates for leadership roles and professional success in addressing local sustainable development challenges with a global perspective.
Dr. Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, President of Siam University, stated that the university aims to become a role model for sustainability and an exemplary example for the world and emphasized the importance of developing a global perspective in an ever-changing world and the need for perseverance, modernization, internationalization, innovation, and sustainability to keep up with economic, environmental, and social changes.
