Sri Lanka’s Printcare Plc was the most awarded company at the print industry’s most prestigious Global Packaging Excellence Awards 2023 held in Mumbai on 29 March.
Printcare carried away 17 awards. The pièce de résistance was the award to Printcare for the Global Digital Printer of the year. Digital printing has developed significantly over the past few decades, and it continues to evolve with new innovations, and advancements in technology.
The event styled as the best of the best in the printing world recognised excellence in quality, creativity and innovation.
Organised this year by the All-India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP) India’s leading printers' association, representing 250,000 printing companies, the event attracted global participation.
To ensure unbiased selection, the judging was done by camera with the help of AI software, and for the very first-time judging was streamed live to be viewed throughout the globe.
Invited to address the over 1,000 predominantly Indian audience, Print care PLC Executive Director Krishna Ravindran took the opportunity to convey the message that Sri Lanka was well on the way to recovering from the economic collapse and particularly thanked India for their spontaneous and generous support to our country during this crisis.
Sri Lanka Printers Association Chairman Peter Decker said: “The Sri Lankan printing industry has long been recognised for its quality, reliability, and innovation, and the achievements we have seen at the recently concluded awards attest to this. It was a proud moment for our country’s print industry which has now positioned itself with the world’s best and complimented their progressive thinking and investment decisions.”
Indian Print Federation former President Shashi Sharma complimenting the Sri Lankan print quality standards asked, “Is there really a financial problem in Sri Lanka? We cannot believe that such a country can have a company which can compete with the best in the world in the print industry.”
Printcare Executive Director Ravindran said: “Our company was humbled in winning these awards. We recognised that winning these awards was not just about the recognition of our company but also about the progress and innovation of Sri Lanka’s printing industry and its work force. Printcare is grateful to be part of such an exciting and dynamic field that is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.”
