Minimum use of pesticides, practicing organic farming as well as selecting the correct seeds is necessary to produce nonpoisonous food, said Specialist Dr. T.B. Ananda Jayalal. He said this at a press conference held at the Information Department yesterday (18th Sept.) to show the results of a research on the poisons included in food.
He said that in some areas the rice contains cadmium while the vegetables and fruits contained led and it affects the health of the people who consume them.
The blood samples of people who eat these food contain 60 percent of led in blood and it affects the health of these people said the doctor.
