The country's export income has gone up significantly. Accordingly, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) says, 3570 million dollars have been earned through exports during the first four months of the year. This has shown a 3.5 percent growth when compared to the income earned during the same period last year.
Tea, spices, equipment petroleum based products and the sea food varieties are the main contributors for the export income. However, the foreign income from apparel industry has not shown a significant growth during this year. But it is expected that the industry and export income will go up with the restoration of GSP plus facility.
