In one of the largest purchases by the Sri Lankan Transport Board (SLTB), Ashok Leyland has received an order for 2,200 buses from the Government of Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan Government is aiming to modernise its existing fleet and significantly improve the public transport network in the nation, Ashok Leyland said in a statement.
“This is a huge order especially at a time when the domestic market is just about to bounce back. This order reaffirms our strategy to substantially enhance our sales outside India,” said Ashok Leyland Managing Director Vinod K. Dasari.
The company will supply the buses within the next six months.
