A principal of a primary school in Ragama has been arrested by officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 150,000.

The arrest came after a complaint was filed by a woman, who claimed that the principal had requested the money in exchange for securing her child's admission to the next year's Grade 1 class.

The principal was arrested at the school office. She is set to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court for further legal proceedings.
