Rs. 10 Million Contract Killing Averted in Habaraduwa

The Organised Crime Investigation Unit of the CID successfully averted a planned contract killing in the Habaraduwa area, arresting a suspect believed to have been preparing to assassinate a woman for Rs. 10 million.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old G.W.A. Tyran Sandaruwan from Meepe, was found in possession of a locally made shotgun capable of firing T56 cartridges, along with six rounds of ammunition.

Police revealed that Sandaruwan was poised to act when law enforcement intervened. He was presented before Galle Additional Magistrate Lakmini Vidanagamage and has been remanded until November 7.
