Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the Ministry of Justice to sign extradition agreements with Laos and Sri Lanka, Russian media reported, quoting a statement published on Russia's official website of legal information on Wednesday.

Treaty with Laos will involve the transfer of a wanted person for prosecution or execution of sentence at the request of the second state. The agreement with Sri Lanka will be on the transfer of convicts to imprisonment. Documents will be signed as soon as agreement is reached.

According to the Russian Prosecutor General's Office website, Russia currently has bilateral extradition agreements with nearly 30 countries, including China, India, Mongolia, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam from Asia.
