Tamil Nadu fishermen have once again accused the Sri Lankan Navy of allegedly damaging their fishing nets.

Rameswaram Fishermen Organisation President S Emerite has told Indian media that fishermen had gone in 508 boats for fishing last night.

When they were fishing near Kachchatheevu, the Navy personnel who came there threatened them not to fish there destroyed several fishing nets.

Kachchatheevu is an island belonging to Sri Lanka according to international agreements signed between Sri Lanka and India in the 1970s. However, Tamil Nadu has been urging the Central Government of India to take control of the island.
