Former Chief Minister of Uva, Shashindra Rajapaksa, topped the preferential votes list of the Moneragala district by obtaining 96619 votes.
Kumarasiri Rathnayake (59285), Udara Soyza (48512) and Saliya Sumedha (21206) formed the rest of the top positions on the UPFA Preferential votes list for Moneragala.
From the UNP, Ananda Kumarasiri, who obtained 24421 votes topped the Moneragala district list while H.M. Dharmasiri (18400) and Tissa Kuttiarachchi (18265) shared the top three positions.
Shashindra Rajapaksa is expected to be the Chief Minister of Uva for the next five years.
