The Mahara Magistrate's Court has issued warrants for Professor Patrick Ratnayake, a faculty member in the Humanities department at Kelaniya University, for allegedly threatening to shoot a senior lecturer in the head.

On March 28, during a hearing for the case assigned under Magistrate Court No. 2092/18B, Judge Wasantha Ramanayake issued a warrant for Ratnayake after he failed to appear in court.

In addition to the aforementioned case, sources report that Ratnayake is also facing charges for assaulting and injuring a student in the same department and stealing their mobile phone. These charges are pending in the Mahara Magistrate's Court.
