Additional Solicitor General Vijith Malalgoda has been appointed the President of the Court of Appeals. He took oaths before President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Presidential Secretary Lalith Weeratunge also attended.
Hailing from the hill capital of Kandy, Vijith Malalgoda received his early education at Dharmaraja College, Kandy. He entered Law College in 1979 and took oaths as an Attorney-at-Law in 1982. Thereafter, he joined the Attorney General’s Department as a State Counsel.
He later held the positions of Senior State Counsel and Deputy Solicitor General before being appointed an Additional Solicitor General.
Vijith Malalgoda was appointed a President’s Counsel in March this year. He holds postgraduate degrees in law from several international universities.
