UNP Parliamentarian Ajith P Perera said that there were no secret meetings between UNP Uva District candidate Harin Fernando and SLFP Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, adding no party has come up with any solid evidence to prove any such meeting.
Speaking at a political talk show on Derana TV yesterday, the UNP Parliamentarian lashed out at the parties who spread romours about a "secret" meeting stating they are being part of the government's election propaganda.

"These blind accusations are completely baseless," Perera said.
"As far as I know, Harin and Namal are friends from the good old days who played Rugby together. It was merely a friendly conversation between two good friends and it was not done in secrecy”, Perera said clearing the air on the matter.
The parliamentarian , while adding that Harin Fernando would not cross over to the government after the Uva Provincial council election, said the Parliamentarian got plenty of chances to cheaply giveaway his position in the UNP.
"He got more opportunities than Dayasiri Jayasekara who crossed over to the government to be the Chief Minister of the North Western Province," he added.
Meanwhile, posting a Facebook update on the matter, Harin Fernando said, “We bumped into each other while campaigning and he wished me to become the next CM. It is very evident that the government has got scared a lot. No matter what I am UNP and will be UNP till I die.”
"If my father can have coffee with Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees, why can't i have a discussion with Harin Fernando," Rajapaksa asked.
