The Bodu Bala Sena today challenged two Muslim organizations – All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and Shura Council – to disclose their stance on terrorist attacks carried out by ISIS group.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, Dilantha Withanage, Chief Executive Officer of the BBS said the two organizations should also make their position clear on the terrorist organization ‘Boko Haram’ – which is based in Africa.
“If they remain tight-lipped on heinous crimes carried out by Islamic terrorist organizations, we will have to consider them as supporters and sympathizers of terrorism,” Withanage said.
He also dubbed the ACJU and the Shura Council as “extremist” Muslim organizations in Sri Lanka.
“Some top echelons in the present administration do not have back bones. As a result, Muslim extremism is raising its head in Sri Lanka,” the BBS stalwart charged.
All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama and National Shura Council are two top religious bodies among the Muslim Muslim community in Sri Lanka. The BBS has already demanded authorities to ban National Shura Council saying it supports what the BBS terms as “Muslim extremism” in Sri Lanka.
‘Shura’ is an Arabic term stands for ‘discussion’ and according to the council, the objective of the establishment of the Shura is “unifying the Muslim community in times of controversies, brushing away their individual and organizational differences and agendas, acting with forbearance while giving prominence to the common good of the Motherland upholding the values of religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence as well as participatory democracy.”
