Robert Dansalage Chandra Kumara alias Selva who was slapped by a girl at the Wariyapola bus stand has been taken into police custody a short while ago.
The suspect is a resident of Wariyapola and a father of two. A police officer who spoke to Asian Mirror said the youth was taken into custody to record a statement from him with regard to the incident.
After being taken into custoidy, the youth had said he also wanted to lodge a complaint against the girl who slapped him in public. The officer said the suspect was allowed to lodge a complaint over the incident.
Meanwhile,speaking to media, Selva said he did not say anything offensive to the girl. He added that he was just highlighting the fact that the girl's dress was inappropriate.
However, the person has been arrested on the grounds that he misbehaved in public. However, there was another school of thought saying the girl should also be arrested as she slapped the youth public several times. The video of the incident went viral on social media over the past few days.
