It was transpired in court that the cosmetic clinic operated by Dr. Nimal Gamage at Bambalapitiya was not in line with accepted medical standards and four women who served as nurses were neither GCE (O/L) qualified nor properly trained as nurses.
The Bambalapitiya police made this revelation before Colombo Additional Magistrate, who ordered the suspect doctor to be remanded till August 25.
Police further maintained that the said clinic did not possess basic medical equipments which essential to carry out surgeries.
Police charged that this clinic had been operated by the suspect even without trolleys, an ambulance and oxygen cylinder which are considered to be essential for a surgery.
Police further charged that the suspect had given an injection containing outdated drugs to the lady doctor who wanted to have a beautification surgery.
