Afghan President Hamid Karzai accepted the credentials of the first ambassador of Sri Lanka to Afghanistan, Prasad Kariyawasam, on Saturday.
Kariyawasam said that his country was committed to continue its cooperation with Afghanistan.
He termed relations between the two countries as friendly and said that the two countries would explore ways to further enhance the bilateral ties.
Kariyawasam added that Sri Lanka was committed to all agreements signed between the two countries during the last trip of President Karzai to the country.
“Sri Lanka praises your wise leadership in leading Afghanistan during this critical juncture,” the new Sri Lankan Ambassador said.
