President Mahinda Rajapaksa has called for a report on the ‘derogatory ‘article which was published in the Sri Lankan Defence website regarding the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa Jayaram.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa today expressed regret over the objectionable article on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa posted on the Defence Ministry website that triggered a chaos in India.

The matter was discussed today during President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s meeting with newspaper editors and news directors of electronic media institutions.
Major General Kapila Hendavitharana speaking on behalf of the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence said the article had been posted on the Defence Ministry website without permission and extended an unqualified apology to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Prime Minister of India.
After the article appeared on the Sri Lankan Defence website chaos erupted in Tamil Nadu which was followed by the Ministers of Tamil Nadu complaining the issue in the Indian ‘Rajhya Sabha’.
Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj yesterday said that the Indian Government will summon the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to discuss regarding the matter. She also demanded the Sri Lankan Government to take action regarding the responsible parties.
