JVP leader and Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake has been discharged from Colombo National Hospital, where he has been receiving treatment after a road accident.

He met with an accident in Rathnapura and was admitted to Rathnapura Hospital, from where he was later transferred to Colombo.

A short while ago, he announced that he had been discharged through his Twitter handle. "I've been discharged from hospital. Thanks for all who were concerned re my condition" he had tweeted.

Meanwhile Dissanayake’s driver was earlier arrested for careless driving.

The driver had allegedly tried to overtake another vehicle when a truck delivering sand has crashed head-on with the JVP Leader’s cab. The accident took place at Holipitiya on Ratnapura-Panadura road.
