A man accused of hijacking a passenger jet and forcing it to land in Cyprus while strapped with a fake bomb has arrived at court under heavy police protection.

The Egyptian national, Seif Eldin Mustafa, surrendered to authorities after a six hour stand-off at the Larnaca Airport in Cyprus.

He had taken control of the Alexandria-Cairo domestic flight by threatening the pilot with a fake suicide vest.
