One person is dead, and another has been injured in a double shooting at the Independence High School in Glendale, Arizona.
There is no active shooter situation, but the police has cordoned off the area and advised students to stay in the classrooms.
While law enforcement sources have told the local media that one person is dead, the police have not confirmed that publicly.
The school is on lockdown and students are not allowed to use their phones, one parent told KNXV-TV.
Local media report the situation is “relatively calm” and that one ambulance has left the scene.
The shooting was reported just before 8 a.m. local time, in the cafeteria area of the school.
“This is an isolated incident,” Glendale police said in a statement, adding they were “not looking for a suspect.”
Glendale is a suburban city in Maricopa County, about nine miles northwest of downtown Phoenix. Independence High has approximately 2,000 students.
