Powerful Earthquake Strikes Indonesia: No Tsunami Warning

A powerful 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Indonesia late on Friday (Feb 12), but no tsunami warning was immediately issued, US seismologists said.

According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake struck at 5.02 p.m. local time. It was centred 3km east-south-east of Andekanter in the Sumba region at a depth of 30km.

The Indonesian disaster mitigation agency said there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, AFP said.
