The British School in Colombo, the premier international school with the best international standard signed up with Hemas Hospital, a chain of multi-speciality family hospitals as the nursing partner of the school.

The agreement was signed between Dr. John Scarth, Principal, The British School and Dr. Chamila Ariyananda, The General Manager, Hemas Hospital, Thalawathugoda at the boardroom of the British School in Colombo last week.

According to the agreement, Hemas Hospitals will provide total nursing care with two in-house nurses’ to be stationed everyday at the school premises. They will also provide medical care at all events including sports activities of the school.

Speaking after signing the agreement Dr. Scarth said “The British School is committed to high quality in everything we do, whether its obtaining excellent examination results, excellence in sports, drama or music. We also care about the welfare of the children and staff which means we have to have very good medical care. To do that we got Hemas Hospital to provide two fully qualified nurses every single day so that if any accident happens or any other medical emergency comes up, we know, we have the backing of a fully professional hospital. So from the point of children and staff, we believe this partnership is excellent to the school,” Dr Scarth said.

He said that the choice of Hemas Hospital was due to the international standard they maintained.

“Hemas Hospital is an internationally accredited hospital, so the care that they provide & the equipment they use meet international standards. The British School also meets international standards, so we chose a company that meets international standards,” Dr. Scarth added.

Dr. Ariyananda said “ Hemas Hospitals came into the health space in Sri Lanka with a very new concept of going into the communities and when we got the opportunity to be of service to the British School in Colombo and provide nursing care to the children and teachers, we felt it was a great opportunity to establish our concept.  We believe in quality care and I believe the British School too believe in quality education so we thought it’s a very good partnership to embrace the communities. We want to go to the communities rather than waiting for the communities to come to us.
