‘K’ Line container vessel M/V ‘ASTORIA BRIDGE’ called her main voyage to the Port of Colombo on the 11th of February 2015 under the local agency of ABC Shipping (Pvt) Ltd.
M/V ‘ASTORIA BRIDGE’ joined the INDFEX1 service (INDIA FAR EAST EXPRESS SERVICE) from December 2014 and she performed her maiden call to the Colombo International Container Terminal (CICT) where it carried out 1600 movements. The 262M long vessel with 4500T capacity sails under the flag of Panama.
Wasantha Talalgala Managing Director expressing his views confirmed that ‘K’ Line have established world-class alliances with shipping companies in China, Taiwan and South Korea and operate main East-West routes between Asia and North America, Asia and Europe, and Europe and North America. In addition, ‘K’ Line also offer the intra-Asian routes covering the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, and the South-North route linking South America, Australia and Africa with Asia and other regions.
Roshan Dissanakaye Director ABC Shipping explained that his vision and the target are to provide stable and reliable service to all its customers over the year and thanked all their customers for the patronage. Roshan also said that the containership services are used to transport a diverse range of products that are closely related to people's lives from general consumer goods to parts and raw materials and Containership services are offered worldwide through the four hubs of Japan, Asia, Europe and North America.
General Manager ABC Shipping Tressel Silva speaking to us said that their Principals is also making a fleet upgrade & would deploy 4 brand new container vessels with the capacity of 12000T for Asia & Europe service from March 2015. He further commented Containership services are the main business of "K" Line's global services. Tressel said ‘K’ Line provide stable and reliable containership services through their globe-spanning container service network, responding to changes in the trade environment and continuously enhancing the international competitiveness. "K" Line is a global carrier that boasts a fleet of approximately 75 ships as of the end of March 2013 and are systematically upgrading ‘K’ Line fleet he added.
