Global Rubber Industries (GRI) and Global Seafoods (Pvt) Limited (GSF), companies within the Global Group, emerged winners at the recently held National Business Excellence Awards 2014. GRI won the Gold Sector Award in the ‘Manufacturing Others’ category and a Silver for ‘Excellence in Global Market Reach.’ This prestigious awards ceremony, organized by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, had top industry leaders competing under different categories in Sri Lanka’s commercial sector.
GSF, a leading seafood processing and export company that supplies the highest quality Value Added Sea Food products to Europe, USA, Middle East and Japan, won a Gold in the ‘Sector award for Livestock & Fisheries’ category. GSF has been recognized by their customers for providing not only high quality products, but also personalised service; ensuring the best to their international clientele.
Since its inception in 2002, GRI a leading industrial solid tyre manufacturer in Sri Lanka, supplies tyres to more than 50 countries worldwide. “Our state of the art factories in Sri Lanka are equipped with the latest technology and our production process meets the highest quality norms both in terms of tyres as well as seafood products. We benchmark our products with the best in the world to optimize performance. GRI tyres are used by the best-known Forklift brands around the world and we also produce tyres for Port trailers, Airport baggage handlers and Skid Steers. Apart from that GRI is the largest producer of solid Excavator tyres in the world,” says Prabhash Subasinghe, Managing Director of the Global Group.
He says that the Group’s many initiatives have helped to propel GRI and GSF to the forefront within a very short period, fast becoming recognized as leaders in the global market place. “We have grown our business through wide global outreach, strengthening business partnerships, increasing manufacturing/processing capacity and developing a compelling product portfolio,” says the Managing Director.
Both GRI and GSF have won many awards for business excellence in the past. GRI was recognized as the Overall Bronze Award Winner at the 2013 National Business Excellence Awards, along with much other Excellence and Gold Awards conferred upon the company. The current win is a further affirmation of the giant footsteps these two Sri Lankan companies are making in the international arena.
Commending the National Chamber of Commerce for creating the platform for local companies to showcase their achievements Mr. Prabhash Subasinghe said that the most stringent criteria was used in the judging process. He said that awards ceremonies such as this not only helped the local industry to display their successes but also raised the bar, setting higher standards for them to aspire to.
