The symposium will provide a venue for Senior Military Leadership and other experts to discuss and examine in depth the present and emerging threats in the region, and employment of Air Power in addressing such threats. The Air Symposium is to bring together the knowledge of professionals and experts in various fields in one forum, in order to be better equipped to face present and future Defence and Security challenges in the region.
Registration to the "Air Symposium 2016" is now open for national and international Military Leaders, professionals in the field of Defence and Security and Members of Think Tanks.
The Air Symposium is one of the key annual events organized by Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF). The inaugural symposium was held in year 2015 and "Air symposium - 2016" is the second in its series and is scheduled to be conducted on 1st and 2nd December 2016 with the participation of senior international military officers, thought leaders and various field experts
This year's theme 'Air Power in the context of Regional Defence and Security', undoubtedly will stimulate a broad discourse between experts, professionals, policy makers and researchers alike in the Defence and Security sector and will lead to and promote the stakeholders to do more research and development on enhancing regional cooperation for the Defence and Security.
Interestingly, SLAF taking another step forward has decided to internationalize this year’s event by opening the forum to professionals and interested parties outside of Sri Lanka. SLAF Symposium Committee requests research participants to submit papers in relation to this year's theme "Air Power in the Context of Regional Security and Defence" with special emphasis on the emerging challenges.
