Science and Technology for Society (STS) Forum Sri Lanka 2016 will be inaugurated this evening at NelumPokuna theatre in Colombo under the patronage of the President Maithripala Sirisena, and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The Forum titled ‘Harnessing Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable National Development’ will be held from 8-10 September at Water’s Edge, Battaramulla.
The STS Sri Lanka forum is inspired by the annual Japanese STS forum, the most recent of which the Prime Minister Wickremesinghe attended as a keynote speaker at the inauguration in Kyoto. Convened by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Science, Technology and Research with the view of introducing advanced technologies to Sri Lanka’s industries and infrastructure program, the forum is organized in partnership with United Kingdom-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI), and Japan-Sri Lanka Innovation Platform (J-SLIP).
The keynote address of the inauguration will be delivered by Dr. Micheal Kelly, Prince Philip Professor of Technology of the University of Cambridge in United Kingdom.
The STS Forum 2016 will end with presenting the ‘Colombo Resolution’.
