Production tax on diesel has been increased by the government by Rs.10.00 per liter, Ministry of Finance said.

The new tax increase came to effect from 20th August. Accordingly, the tax increases up to Rs.13.00 from Rs.3.00.

However, the market price of diesel will not increase as a result of this new tax revision, ministry further mentioned.

Diesel price in world marked has declined and the government by this tax revision expects to obtain that advantage to the government.
