Founded in 1947 as the British Institute of Management the Chartered Management Institute was renamed thus, upon being awarded the Royal Charter in 2002.
Being one of the few countries in the world to have their own branches of CMI, the Sri Lanka Branch which was set up in 1996 has done a lot of important work over the last 18 years for the benefit and development of professional managers in Sri Lanka.
Having noted the growing enthusiasm for Quizzing in Sri Lanka and with the intention of enhancing the knowledge and competitive skills of Sri Lankan managers, CMI Sri Lanka Branch organised their “first ever Management Quiz” in September 2014 and followed it up with their second team quiz for corporates in August 2015.
Following the success in these two events, CMI Sri Lanka branch is organising “CMI Quiz Challenge 2016” at the Kingsbury Hotel Colombo on 7th August 2016 from 3 PM onwards.
CMI Sri Lanka is privileged to team up with International Quizzing Association (IQA) Sri Lanka, this year too and all questions for the CMI Quiz Challenge 2016 will be set up by IQA's country representative for Sri Lanka, based on the standards of the World Quizzing Association.
The CMI Quiz Challenge 2016 will be open to teams from
a) Education Institutes , b) Insurance, Banks and Financial Sector Companies, c) BPO's, ICT and Software companies d) Other Mercantile Sector Companies and (e) Independent Teams.
It will be conducted as a team quiz, where the Quiz Master will read out the question, twice over and the team members will discuss among them and decide on the answer and write it on an answer script.
This quiz will have 5 rounds, each with 10 questions. These will also include visuals/ video clips based questions and will cover the following focus areas.
Current Affairs and General Knowledge, Sports & Games , Science including Astronomy and Space, Arts / Entertainment / History / Geography and Literature, Questions on Management and related disciplines
The answer scripts will be collected at the end of each round and marked by a Panel of Markers, while the Quiz Master will continue with the next round. At the end of the 5 rounds the marks will be added to decide on the winners & runners up etc.
The winners will receive a Cash Award of Rs 1o0,000/- and the “CMI Quiz Challenge Trophy 2016” while the runners up will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 75,000/- and a trophy followed by cash prizes of Rs 50,000/-, Rs 30,000/- and Rs 25,000/- for the 3rd 4th and 5th placed teams.
Winners will be picked from each of the five categories and they will be recognised with attractive trophies in addition to the cash awards for the top 5 teams.
